There are not many famous mines in Northumberland, but there are a couple, Allenheads Mines, St. Peters and Settling Stones Mine. As it occupies the northern part of the ore field there are fewer mines compared to Weardale. This area was mostly controlled by the Blackett-Beaumont's, Who still have family in the valleys today.
